about

"Energetic, fast, yet calm and emotional, or groovy and raw?... to be honest, there aren't enough adjectives to describe this V/A...

I just know that the result was exactly what I was looking for when I started curating my first V/A for my personal label: a slightly eclectic yet synergistic techno compilation. it had to be something special

when you start listening to it, you're faced with Max Watts 'Western': a very minimalist techno jam but with an emotional touch that's just right. no more, no less. in the right measure. When I received the tracks I didn't ask anyone why the track names were like this or that, but when I hear 'Western' I definitely could feel transported to a distant scene, I feel like I'm sitting in a rocking chair... just watching the tumbleweeds roll in the forgotten desert. After it's over, we're suddenly immersed in a mysterious and “dense” atmosphere. 'Acaneude' by Brazilian artist Andc kicks in. In fact, i really believe that Leandro did an outstanding job in this track because its not just a “funky techno track”, its way more than that: the rollin-groovin’ basslines along with the masterfully use of the high pitched dark-ish pads definitely makes ‘Acaneude’ a real sci-fi novelistic plot-twist, resulting in a perfect soundtrack for an eerie intergalatic ride.

Next, we have a track by dallas producer Cratan, who is also known as Decoder. I remember he had sent me some unreleased tracks, and as usual, all the tracks were amazing. But I had noticed something... There was a track that was simply engraved in my mind. Like a Loop. In that week i was silently driving my car but inside my head all i heard is “doomdomdomdom”. This track was ‘Qbar’ from Cratan. For me, 'Qbar' is a Self-control exercise: It's impossible to hear it and not frenetically tap your feet. After ending it, my track 'Lost In Paradiso' follows the same mood and continue to sets the pace: it's about groove. It's hard to explain certain things but, when I wrote 'Lost In Paradiso' I already had a concept in my mind... it's like nothing mattered, it's like we're on a deserted beach, in a faraway tropical island. We are lost but we are not alone, its like... we are lost in paradiso.

To compose the peak, the middle of the compilation I wanted something energetic. something slightly aggressive. something "boom!!!!!!"... in 5th place, without fancy artifices, just a lot of attitude that only true techno-heads can show, the repetitive and metallic beats of ‘Waves’ from the new UK artist Hurdslenk successfully fulfills the mission and makes room for the second middle-track ‘Why Are You So Interest In Hell’ from the Argentinian Zisko. When he (Zisko) sent it to me, it was 3 tracks, well... whoever follows Zisko knows... pure magic! but this track had something very amazing about it. I can't say clearly, but for me, this track is an amazing hybrid and a very well executed fusion of different genres of electronic music, it's not a simple 4x4 track... you definitely feel something more: it's like techno had a child with EBM, resulting in an unpredictable strobe-light banger.

To start the end of the compilation, I couldn't forget... it had to have tool techno! What is tool Techno? in my opinion, tool techno is all about loop. not any loop, however, an extremely well executed loop. Something that i can listen and forget time exists. PageOne 'Genesis 88', Forum '82' and A-Sts 'Perplex' sucessfully do the trick for me: those three tracks are pure time-freezing techno portals.

Being the icing on the cake, Alexandre Laeddis's impactful 4/4 kick drum makes the perfect finish for the compilation. Like any track by alexandre, 'Vantage' is full of nostalgia and brings us back to our good memories.

the text was huge, I know, but I couldn't think of another way to show how happy I am with this release. to show how passionate we are about techno music.

A huge thanks to Max Watts, Andc, Cratan, Hurdslenk, Zisko, PageOne, Forum, A-STS and Alexandre Laeddis for being part of this journey and a huge thanks to all independent music supporters, you are the ones who keep electronic music alive!"
